Version 1.0-pre3 of plzip is ready for testing here
http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/lzip/plzip-1.0-pre3.tar.lz

The md5sum is:
5d72ba68ea1446cb609ef38d2c19b700 plzip-1.0-pre3.tar.lz

Please, test it and report any bugs you find.

Plzip is a massively parallel (multi-threaded), lossless data compressor based on the LZMA algorithm, with very safe integrity checking and a user interface similar to the one of gzip or bzip2. Plzip uses the lzip file format; the files produced by plzip are fully compatible with lzip-1.4 or newer, and can be rescued with lziprecover.

Plzip is intended for faster compression/decompression of big files on multiprocessor machines, which makes it specially well suited for distribution of big software files and large scale data archiving. On files big enough, plzip can use hundreds of processors.

The homepage is at http://www.nongnu.org/lzip/plzip.html

Changes in this version:

* Scalability of compression (max number of useful worker threads) has been increased.

* Scalability when decompressing from/to regular files has been increased.

* The number of worker threads is now limited to the number of members in the input file when decompressing from a regular file.

  * The target "install-as-lzip" has been added to the Makefile.

  * The target "install-bin" has been added to the Makefile.

Antonio Diaz, plzip author and maintainer.
