I am pleased to announce the release of clzip 1.2.

Clzip is a lossless data compressor based on the LZMA algorithm, with very safe integrity checking and a user interface similar to the one of gzip or bzip2.

Clzip uses the lzip file format; the files produced by clzip are fully compatible with lzip-1.4 or newer. Clzip is in fact a C language version of lzip, intended for embedded devices or systems lacking a C++ compiler.

The homepage is at http://www.nongnu.org/lzip/clzip.html

The sources can be downloaded from
http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/lzip/.

The md5sums are:
4daecc78324b55a42462671c729de1b7 clzip-1.2.tar.gz
ca07067df23a24c588f3f2dc1edf1394 clzip-1.2.tar.lz

This release is also GPG signed. You can download the signature by appending ".sig" to the URL.

Changes in version 1.2:

* The option "-F, --recompress", which forces recompression of files whose name already has the ".lz" or ".tlz" suffix, has been added.

* Clzip now prints only one status line for each multimember file when only one "-v" is specified.

* For large values of "--match-length", compression ratio has been slightly increased and compression time has been reduced by up to 6%.

Please send bug reports and suggestions to address@hidden

If you are packaging clzip for a distribution, please, try to use the lzipped source tarball, as this can improve the support for the lzip format in packaging systems[1][2]. Thanks.
