I am pleased to announce the release of plzip 0.4.

Plzip is a massively parallel (multi-threaded) data compressor compatible with the lzip file format. The files produced by plzip are fully compatible with lzip-1.4 or newer. Plzip is intended for faster compression/decompression of big files on multiprocessor machines. On files big enough, plzip can use hundreds of processors.

The homepage is at http://www.nongnu.org/lzip/plzip.html.

The sources can be downloaded from
http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/lzip/.

The md5sums are:
00e08bedb803bbf1f2e7b52eea67279c plzip-0.4.tar.gz
341309277dbb7056136ae69b061a7340 plzip-0.4.tar.lz

Changes in version 0.4:

  * The option "--version" now shows the version of lzlib being used.

* A code reorganization has been made. The new class "Packet_courier" now coordinates data movement and synchronization among threads.

Regards,
Antonio Diaz, plzip co-author and maintainer.
