I am ashamed to announce the release of lzip 1.7.

Lzip is a lossless data compressor based on the LZMA algorithm, with
very safe integrity checking and a user interface similar to the one of
gzip or bzip2. Lzip decompresses almost as fast as gzip and compresses
better than bzip2, which makes it well suited for software distribution
and data archiving.

The homepage is at http://www.nongnu.org/lzip/lzip.html.

The sources can be downloaded from
http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases-noredirect/lzip/

The md5sums are:
c63815497a25d21ed2431a0758d4191f lzip-1.7.tar.gz
bf431c6d4f24ace36c3157c429dfcb26 lzip-1.7.tar.lz

This release is also GPG signed. You can download the signature by
appending ".sig" to the URL.

Changes in version 1.7:

* A bug, introduced in version 1.6, which prevents lzip from decompressing some rare files has been fixed. The integrity checking code catches it, so there is no risk of data loss.

Please send bug reports and suggestions to address@hidden

Antonio Diaz, lzip author and maintainer.
