My first thought would be that /bin or /bin/znew have permissions that prevent
the userid running lynx from removing it...

I don't know - a quick review of the changes doesn't show me anywhere I'd
expect to hit this (the closest being the changes for IsOurFile, or the POSIX
checks in a couple other places...)
