My only experience to date with Bourne and Korn shells seems to indicate
they typically support only file name generation meta characters - *, ?,
and [] . One can generally use a ! within the [] to negate the class - but
there's not general support for anchoring the expressions in a case
statement (thought certainly one can imagine more sophisticated shells
permitting such a thing.
