Subject: LYNX-DEV LYNX Browser skip ahead function.

Is it possible to enhance LYNX to enable it to revisit a large search
project by skipping ahead 'n' number of pages, i.e. having read some
200 pages, then leaving the project to come back to it at a later date
to continue reading, starting at page 201 from multi sources?

How you do this will vary with the search engine.

You can probably go to an arbitrary point in the search results
with a little editing of the URL to go to some other point in
the search results.

If you re-run the search at the later date, it will pick up new
information, and page 201 won't be the same as on the first go-around.
But you want the new information, don't you?

I would approach this problem with the 'G' (_capital_ G) function new
in 2.7:

1. Run the basic search. It lists the first 20-30 hits and some
number of additional pages of result.

2. Follow the link to the last page of more hits offered. Note
the range of hits covered in this page.

3. Use G to recover the URL for that last move, and edit it to
go to some other range in the set of hits.

To do this with 2.3, you will need to play with capturing URLs
from the Information Page displayed by '='.

PS: Lynx can be improved in many ways beyond 2.3. It has been.
See if you can't get your system to upgrade. See
