Sorry, I've realized that nothing prevents me from defining this symbol in
configure, if necessary, as clang is only used with configure anyhow
currently, and by the time it can be used with the main makefile, clang 11
will probably be irrelevant anyhow. And like this we could avoid polluting
the header with this workaround. So I'll revert/remove this commit and fix
it in configure.ac which means that I won't have any changes outside of
this file and .github/workflows/ci.yml and so should be able to merge them
myself, once the CI builds pass and avoid bothering you with this.
But I'll definitely do it tomorrow as I'm obviously not thinking very
clearly today any longer and should have realized the above before posting
my previous reply, rather than almost immediately after doing it...
