This was implemented as an optional side effect of the old XSL code, and
is not presently offered by the new implementation. We'll have to ponder
whether it's useful enough to add (or whether some alternative enhancement
to achieve a similar purpose is called for). I've noted this in a "PDF !!"
comment inline so that we don't forget it; no further action required now.
