I should also say that I maintain my own "shadow" copy of the repository
(distinct from the local working copy where I make my own changes), and
routinely update it when the online repository changes; and I saw no such
symptom there when I updated it to revision 4955:

/lmi/checkouts/current/lmi[0]$svn update
U    illustration_reg.xsl
U    ledger_invariant.cpp
U    ChangeLog
U    ledger_invariant.hpp
U    product_data.cpp
U    product_data.hpp
Updated to revision 4955.

This appears to support the hypothesis that nothing extraordinary has
occurred in the online repository.
