It seems balanced enough, and it has nice setup system, where players
can start with wildly varying resources. Good game, and I'm definitely
looking forward to playing this one more. I didn't like the favours too
much anyway, I found the building track simply too strong to ignore and
thus detrimental to the variety of the game. The box was bigger than I
expected, a full Kosmos-size box.
The study found some disturbing health trends that seem to affect
children from all backgrounds.
There are some twists, though. Bit of a strange decision, it being such
a gamer's game, but I suppose Puerto Rico has sold well enough.
He also said the province hasn't provided a scientific assessment to
justify draining the lake.
I almost got a temple chain - one turn, and I would've won - which Olli
blocked, but eventually my experience and efficiency overrun Olli and I
was able to finish the game as my victory.
You do have some choices, deciding what is the best way to use one's
cards to succeed and prevent others from succeeding. Being the first
player in a round is important, particularly if you're looking for a
good craftsman. I'm pretty sure multiplayer games will fix this
somewhat, as the number of cards is bigger.
However, the inexperience of the publisher shows. I did visit
Lautapelit. In the end I found the game a bit bland.
Your best laid plans can be disrupted with some bad luck in the draw.

So, good, but not great, and definitely deserves some more play before
any final judgement is passed. The game seems quite good, really, as a
family game. If I'd had to gice Phoenicia a pass because of it, it would
have been a real shame. At least it keeps the games exciting.
It's been a while since I last played the game, but I hope the next
session will be sooner.
