Web applications are moving away from the page metaphor to an
interactive application model. An XMLHttpRequest object for
asynchronously exchanging the XML data between the client and the
server. Another characteristic of scripting languages is that they do
not require a separate compilation step. Three weeks ago I released a
simple picture of an system almost ready for release that might be of
interest and got more hits from all over the world and DOD that was
quite interesting. The JSF-Extensions runtime brings the power of Ajax
to existing and future JSF developed applications. But a poorly built
application will quickly show problems of maintenance and scalability.
Really what do you think about it? One element of JavaScript technology
that is key to Ajax is XMLHttpRequest, an object that is used to
exchange data between the web client and web server. The web server
processes the request and returns an XML document that contains the
result.
In general, these approaches vary in the amount of JavaScript code you
need to incorporate into the page. Page authors use these Ajax
components, along with widgets, JavaScript technology, and other
techniques, to incorporate Ajax functionality into their web
applications. A Java Servlet on the server side responds to the Ajax

The client does not have to wait for a response from the server before
continuing, as is the case for the traditional synchronous approach.

The problem I'm having is there are almost too many options available
when trying to develop a web app. A JavaScript technology function
creates and configures an XMLHttpRequest object on the client, and
specifies a JavaScript technology callback function. More importantly,
when building more robust applications, developers prefer to catch as
many errors as possible during compile time rather than at runtime.

small amounts of data with the server without going through a form
submit.
