Actually I wanted to ask the same thing sometime, as I would like to add ILBC. 
I might try my hand at coding, but analyzing the code to find out the codec 
structure seems tough.

So: how does one add a codec? Simon, perhaps you'd care to write a brief list 
of places where a new codec is to be hooked up?
