Dear Klaus,

thanks for the reply. I had done a fuser before, but it didn't report
anything. In turn, doing fuser on /dev/modem, it duly reports hylafax'es
iron grip onto ttyS1.

Still an enigma to me.

Danke, regards

Andreas Mattheiss

Using the following command, you can get the PID of the process that currently
uses the soundcard. Maybe there is some soundwrapper using the soundcard!

/sbin/fuser /dev/dsp

regards,
Klaus

I'm close to cracking - linphone (0.11.0) keeps coming up with

| INFO1 | <osipua.c: 65> Starting osip stack and osipua layer.

| INFO1 | <udp.c: 112> Entering osipua thread.

MediaStreamer-Message: Found /dev/dsp.

No! It is *not* busy! I can play audio files with sox & friends happily. All

What gives? The thing is: the sound card is a ES1868, with the ALSA -
drivers as recommended. From what I've read on another location I
understand that duplex on this card is slightly iffy. Interesting enough,
when using another program called ant-phone I can only get it to cooperate
with the card by setting outgoing audio to dsp, incoming to dsp0. The joke
is of course that dsp is a link to dsp0. So to me it somehow looks like a
sound card related issue.

It would be great if someone could fill me in here.

TIA

Andreas
