Hi Simon,

so i have ignored the gnome-libs 1.0.5.... in .configure, now i get new
error :
..............
checking for gnome_window_icon_set_default_from_file in -lgnomeui... no
checking for applet_widget_gtk_main in -lpanel_applet... no
configure: error: libpanel-applet is required. It is usually distributed in
the gnome-core package.
        On Debian it is in libpanel-applet package. Please install also the
development package.


i have installed 
libpanel-applet-2_0-devel - Static libraries, include files for GNOME panel
Suse has gnome 2.0
