Hi,

This behaviour is typically the one with bugged audio drivers, either on
the local machine, or in the remote machine. Linphone version < 0.9.0
use the sound driver to get synchronisation.
Ensure that on both machines machines you have lastest ALSA sound
drivers working. see http://www.alsa-project.org to download and get
instructions about alsa drivers. You need a recent kernel (2.4.18, for
example).

If the problem persists, please try linphone-0.9.0 (lastest release). It
may work better. I can't support users for older release and I will not
make a patch for older release.

If you don't want to loose time with installing alsa drivers manually,
then use linux machines with a recent distribution on. (I know that
lastest Mandrake and lastest SuSE installs alsa driver automatically)
