Hi,
was able to test this today and it indeed works as suggested. I'm happy to having received this information after several unanswered messages on the mailing list. The SIP userscanning stopped immediately.
One small concern is that the SRV record, and thus the port we try to hide, are public info because it is part of a DNS record. I think a configuration file would be a bit more secure in this "security by obscurity" strategy

What we do is to use an SRV record instead of an A record. Then you can set the port and the server address in your DNS entry.
Then your account setting is address@hidden
Works fins and allows you to keep you asterisk server less visible
