I would like to get some clarification about Instant Messaging / Texting / Chat.
Prior to version 10 of Asterisk instant messaging was :
only during call
using the asterisk command SendText()
Starting version 10
out of call support
SIP MESSAGE support ans XMPP support
Now I am just wondering two things :
the t140 codec is / was used in what context ? just for the in call texting of prior version ?
then Linphone supports t140 and in call texting using this ?
I read that thread : http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/linphone-developers/2010-04/msg00060.html
which is from 2010 when Asterisk 10 was not released.
Does this mean that Linphone supported SIP MESSAGE before Asterisk ?
Thanks for your help.
cheers.
