Linux has improved then, some years ago dc1394 didn't do that.

Few popular applications under OSX like iChat or skype have no problems
with that particular firewire camera causing us trouble here.
(It only outputs qqvga-multiples frame sizes and UYVY format.)

If I understand correctly, the "Prefered video size" setting in linphone
affects frame size transmitted to the other endpoint; then in fact it
should not matter which size is read out of the camera?
