I have libspeex development files installed, version 1.2
No, there's no speex_echo.h in there, just:

speex_bits.h       speex_config_types.h  speex_header.h  speex_types.h
speex_callbacks.h  speex.h               speex_stereo.h

The README file (of linphone, not mediastreamer2)
says requirement is speex>=1.1.6

mediastreamer2/README doesn't mention requirement of libspeex
