crescendo hairpin terminates too early?

Hi,

https://lilypond.org/doc/v2.23/Documentation/notation/expressive-marks-attached-to-notes.en.html#dynamics

says:

"A hairpin that is terminated with \! will end at the right edge of the 
note that has the \! assigned to it."

But if I try this:

{ c'4\< d' e' f' | g1\! }

the hairpin ends way too early, before the barline. This same error (?) 
can also be seen in the example image in the manual just above the above 
mentioned quote.

Using lilypond 2.23.0 right now.
