Please consider the advantages to upgrading to 2.18 - it's quite easy to install on Linux (regardless of what's in the repo).

sh lilypond-2.18.2 etc.

You'll find as you continue to engrave music in LilyPond that perhaps a lot of code you wish to use won't work properly (or at all) on older versions.
Lots of cool stuff has been added and enhanced significantly in 2.18 +
