thanks, this looks promising. But I'll have to take a closer look to see if I can proceed from there.

One question: obviously 'page:page-number is in the props available to define-markup-function. But how could I access that from within a music function?

I had the problem that I wanted a special page to appear without footer.
The current code evaluates the page number where the label is placed, so 
calculating the number of empty pages to be inserted should be 
straightforward.
