Indeed there is a boolean for that porpose:
restrainOpenStrings (boolean)

Exclude open strings from the automatic fret calculator.

On the page

one can find a useful example code. Simply search for "setting restrainOpenStrings to #t."

Might sound crazy, but I want to get a transposable fingering scheme - open
strings cannot be transposed.
