Seems like a good idea, but I think it would be preferrable to have a distinct character for that to avoid confusion.
Maybe something like c32[\[ c c c\] c\[ c c c\]] ?This is in analogy to slurs and phrasing slurs. Although this would preferably be used the other way round: \[ for "outer" beams and the simple bracket for subdivisions. Of course this isn't acceptable as it would break all existing code.
