"source" is the preferred form of modification, including all necessary
scripts.  That does not mean that our installation procedure has to
_run_ all the necessary scripts, or that the process might not involve
manual steps as well.  That's what is needed to meet the GPL
requirement.  The GNU project guidelines want to avoid promoting
non-free software, so dependencies on them are disfavoring inclusion.  I
don't see that this is the case here, however.

We arrive at our indentation using Emacs, but even if we deliver the
scripts for doing so, this does not mean we need to redistribute Emacs
as well.
