please replace `omitParenthesizedBarNumbers' with the following, less
hackish version

omitParenthesizedBarNumbers =
\override Score.BarNumber #'after-line-breaking =
  #(lambda (grob)
    (let* ((text (ly:grob-property grob 'text))
           (text-arg (caadr text))
           (nmbr? (string->number text-arg)))
    (if (not nmbr?)
      (ly:grob-suicide! grob)
      #f)))
