Re: how to stretch the bar width?

Hi Federico,

This is a major irritation of mine in Lilypond, and one for which I have 
repeatedly offered a bounty. It crops up in the worst way when you make 
orchestral parts with MultiMeasureRests in them.

It would be great to be able to force a piece of markup to have a 
#'minimum-span of X measures/moments: if the total width of those 
measures/moments is greater than this #'minimum-span, Lilypond's behaviour is 
unchanged from the current behaviour; if the total width is less than 
#'minimum-span, then the entire block of measures/moments is stretched 
uniformly to reach the #'minimum-span.

I hope this feature is implemented someday soon — and am willing to help fund 
it.
