The 101 number was chosen such that a (IIRC) the staff spaces are an
integral number of pixels apart, but individual staves may still be
shifted fractional pixels wrt each other.
There is really no "right" way; all of the formatting engine assumes
floating point numbers for positioning, and rounding in the final
output may produce uneven distances between staves, which you probably
don't want either.
