Yes, very good point!
Ralph Little is working on native Braille output support, as you can see here:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-devel/2007-09/msg00347.html
He'll probably need some help with debugging, documentation, etc (and
some kudos as well ;) so I guess he'll be happy to see that some users
care about it...
