Re: accented characters

Just make sure that your text editor is configured to save the file using
UTF-8 encoding, and everything should work without problems.
You can find several examples in the on-line documentation, for example
the "Sängers Morgenlied" if you click on "Examples" at the Documentation
web page for your version of LilyPond.
