lilypond-latex problem

With 2.4.0, I can't seem to use lilypond-latex -- here's the output I 
get with the --verbose option:

/usr/local/bin/lilypond-latex (GNU LilyPond) 2.4.0
Opening pipe `/usr/local/bin/lilypond --format=tex  --version '
Opening pipe `kpsexpand \$TEXMF'
Opening pipe `kpsewhich -expand-path=\$T1FONTS'

  File "/usr/local/bin/lilypond-latex", line 725, in ?
    os.chdir (tmpdir)
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 
'/tmp/tmpNTSncf/usr/local/bin/lilypond-latex'

This is probably something obvious, but I can't figure it out; any help 
would be appreciated.
