With regards to the tablature example (staff + tabstaff), it may be interesting to note that it's the TabStaff which is not well taken into account, whatever the position, up or down, and only when using StaffGroup:

To summarize, here's how -dpreview option behaves:

StaffGroup of two regular staves: ok
two whatever-staves (Staff or TabStaff) without StaffGroup: ok
a StaffGroup containing at least a TabStaff (whatever order): not ok, the brace is cut

It seems that lilypond 2.12.1 computes incorrect bbox values for EPS
images. While the top, left, and right side is OK, the bottom is always
too far away by a certain (fixed?) amount.

All lilypond output files exhibit this problem; the attached image
just shows an \fbox around the included lilypond input within a LaTeX
document.
