‘For the given staff spacing’? I think that with an appropriate beam slope,
minimum stem length and clearance of the accidentals the staves should be
placed further apart. Maybe this is difficult to achieve and very involved,
but that shouldn’t import on the classification of the issue.
The current output (it’s the same with 2.19.23) definitely is bad
typesetting. In many cases, the stem directions and staff change will be
considered part of the content, not of the presentation, so we should
provide a native way (as opposed to the workaround in c#5) of handling this
well.
Thus, I vote for Status:accepted.
