Regarding comment #5 and an agitated exchange on the bug list: I _think_  
that the original helpers (Oliver and Julia) likely only provided a changed  
file, and that "From the Bug Squad: I prepared a patch file (attached)   
using meld," has been done independently against the current version of the  
file with independent changes.

Consequently, the diff/patch undoes all changes made since version 2.19.0.   
I can create an alternative patch against version 2.19.0 and rebase it to  
the current version.  That should get rid of the contentious back changes.   
It will not address other points.
