I seem to be bad at making understandable suggestions.  !scm_is_true is  
perfectly equivalent to scm_is_false, and scm_is_false is perfectly  
equivalent to your ly_is_false.

So I suggest another global search and replace of !scm_is_true with  
scm_is_false.
