The action of bar checks in lyrics can be surprising if the associated  
music has a rest at the start of a bar, in that a bar check mark inserted  
at that point, between the syllable before the bar line and the syllable  
after the rest, will generate a bar check warning.  This leads users to  
seek an error in their coding when, in fact, no error is present.  Issue 99  
discusses this, and stands as a request for an enhancement to implement a  
less-surprising behaviour.

Issue 99 has been open since 2006 and until it is actioned bar checking in  
lyrics is working as designed.  In which case the current section in NR  
1.2.5,

is misleading and should be extended to cover the current behaviour.
