i see that you've marked this issue as abandoned.  Is there something  
wrong?  Did my comments discouraged or annoyed you?  Can i help in some way?

In any case, the two issues that i described above are very minor and i  
don't consider them to be enough to stop this patch (when i wrote comment  
#22, i thought that there are some more serious problems too, but they  
turned out to be my mistake - sorry!).

Unfortunately, i don't have enough time to carefully review the code  
(despite the fact that i would really like to do it), but judging from the  
output results the patch can be pushed imo.  The few downsides that i've  
found are *nothing* compared to the massive benefits.

Therefore, i'm setting this to patch-review.
