http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3560 first of all: I agree wholeheartedly. a mild "but":I guess Jan's intent with 3d5e722 was not ensuring onset, but to have (restore?) a shorthand for a multi-measure note similar to a multi-measure rest: a1*5 like R1*5. I think that using completion engraver for that purpose is an abuse, but the concern is valid (besides, though off, I'd indeed love to have a way to denote durations like 1 ~ 4 or 2. ~ 4. without tie).
