Not much seems to use this except for \cueDuring, for example

\addQuote "Hoho" { c'4 d' e' f' }

\new Staff \with { \override StaffSymbol.line-count = #4 }
{
  \cueDuring "Hoho" #DOWN R1
}

As a note aside: what's with the horrible positioning of noteheads  
regarding the bottom staffline and the ledger line here?
