http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3501Spanners that belong to a Staff will not be marked cross-staff, the pedal will avoid the dynamics, and the next staff will move to clear its note-head from the pedal spanner --- same output as in 2.16 or with the workaround.
