Workaround for the stems pushing in between letters of cresc. and dim. :
    \override DynamicTextSpanner #'skyline-horizontal-padding = #0.5
or if you want to keep clear the full rectangle around "cresc. - - - " then
    \override DynamicTextSpanner #'vertical-skylines = #'()
