Accidentals are one case where you tend to get optical clusters instead of cleanly separate objects, and that's a tradeoff in order to be able to take them in faster. Personally, I would think it rather desirable that the arrangement of that cluster tried to match the shape of the corresponding notehead cluster, where possible.
But I don't know what the references have to say about that.
