http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2344Considering the grey line at the bottom: have you tried modifying barline's Y-extent to make the whiteout bigger? From what i see in metafont code, the bottom edge of the barline glyph is placed somewhere in the middle of the bottom staffline, so half of the staffline gets whited out and half does not. I suppose it should be visible if you zoom pdf output to something like 1600%.
