Re coil whine: Running `powertop --auto-tune` may help. (https://libreboot.org/docs/misc/index.html#trisquel7_powertop)

I would also be interested in a solution for the darker left side.

Hi Francis, I am vita_cell, 2 days ago I flashed the latest Libreboot

Macbook 2,1 (and probably 1,1)(I have 1,1 and if you need, I can test
it) has a sound distortion of the left channel (headphones and built-in
speakers) in GNU+Linux (it isn't the problem of Libreboot), but this fix
it:

I have a t400 8mb with 1440x900 screen (without ATI GPU). After flash it
(with 20150518) <https://libreboot.org/release/20150518/> was not able
to boot, I could see only changing fullscreen colors every 3-6 seconds,
could fix it with kernel parameter, after that GNU+Linux boots (no grub
screen, only blinking colors). The screen works fine with 80-100% of
brightness, but below 80% the left side of screen become more darker
that right side of screen, Lower the brightness, darker is the left
side. After flash it with
"libreboot_r20150518fix-776-g7ce97e5_grub_t400_8mb" which improves a bit
the dark left side, I was able to boot into GNU+Linux without parameter,
so ok, but, now I can hear coil whine if brightness below 100%
(absolutely no coil whine at 100%). Lower is the brightness, quieter is
the coil while and darker is the left side of the screen.
