On BSDs, libgc is provided by the boehm-gc package [0, 1 2].

The garbage collector in Debian-based distributions is contained in
libgc an libgc-dev. In Fedora they are called gc and gc-devel.

What about other rpm-based distributions, like Suse, Mandriva and all
their derivates?

What about FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD?
