The speed of 'guix pull' to update Guix itself is still on the too slow
side of things (tens of minutes) but getting updates through 'guix
install' or 'guix upgrade' should be relatively fast (typically fetches
binaries at ~1.5/2 MiB/s) as long as there are binary substitutes
(prebuilt binaries) available.

I think 'apt install guix' is a thing, thanks to Vagrant's efforts on
Debian.
