Hey guys,

I have a question about how to do something and a question as to the security problems that doing it might pose:

Is it possible to jail 2 users in the same jail and have them share the same home directory? By default, jailkit requires that a user owns it's own home directory:

|Aug 13 12:35:00 *hostname* jk_chrootsh[6015]: path /home/*jail*/./ftproot is
not owned by group 520
Aug 13 12:35:00 *hostname* jk_chrootsh[6015]: abort, path
/home/*jail*/./ftproot is not owned by 520

And obviously the home directory can only be owned by one user or the other.

Even if this is easy to allow (turn off checking somehow in the config files) this obviously creates some security problems, first of all having an additional username and password for the clients to keep track of. Is there anything else I'm missing?

users might change each others settings, such as .ssh/authorized_keys and files like that. Because of that jk_chrootsh does this strict checking. Check the archives of the list for more information.

what are you trying to accomplish?

Olivier
