GNU xhippo 3.1 has been released and is available from
<URL:ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/xhippo/xhippo-3.1.tar.gz> and other GNU mirrors.
GNU xhippo is a generic playlist manager for POSIX-like systems which is
capable of playing files in any format for which a command-line player exists;
it is highly configurable and has a simple, flexible GTK-based graphical
interface.
GNU xhippo was written by Adam Sampson <address@hidden> and a host of other
contributors credited in the ChangeLog; bugs, suggestions and comments should
be directed to <address@hidden>.
Changes in this release:
- localisation via gettext (somewhat out-of-date German locale included as an
example; submissions and corrections welcome!)
- Previous button added, allowing the user to move back through the history
of random songs
- many new keyboard accelerators added
- rewritten config file parser, supporting a more friendly file format
(backwards-compatible with old config files)
- support for adding directories recursively, both via the context menu and
through drag-and-drop
- optional support for reading ID3 v1 and v2 tags from MPEG files via id3lib
- sorting playlist by "swapped name" ("Y" in "X - Y")
- files and directories to be added to the playlist may be specified on
the commandline
- clicks on the status bar now bring up the context menu applicable to the
current song
- bug fixed where deleting a song could cause a crash when opening the
information window
- bug fixed where a file dialog had the wrong title
