upgrading CVS on Red Hat linux 6.3

Hello,

I have CVS running on a Red Hat Linux 6.3 box and i guess the version
of CVS running on it is pretty old.


1) does the CVS run as a daemon ? what is its name ? doing a "ps -ax"
does not list anything with the name of CVS running on the box

2) What latest stable version of CVS should i upgrade the CVS on my
box to ?
Can i upgrade CVS wihtout upgrading rest of Red Hat linux?
a step by step procedure to upgrade would greatly help
